Healing Heart Foundation, a non-governmental organization, in partnership with Advocacy for Widows Empowerment Foundation and CEE HOPE, over the weekend celebrated the International Widow’s Day with hundreds of widows in Isolo, Lagos state.
The event which was attended by hundreds of widows all over the state was just one of the many outreaches embarked upon by the Organization.
Speaking at the event, the President of Healing Heart Foundation, Rev. Mrs Sophy Mbanisi, expressed gratitude to God for bringing the foundation this far. She thanked God for the grace He has given to her and the foundation to be able to reach out and be a blessing to thousands of widows and indigent women globally. She charged the excited women to be hard-working, diligent in their business, and also prayerful, stating that being a widow is not a death sentence. She pointed out that widows can still lead productive lives, and contribute positively to the development of the community, and society.
The high point of the event was the presentation of packaged food and assorted gift items to the women.
The president of the group also appealed to well-meaning citizens of the country to join hands with them to lift many widows and indigent women out of poverty, and empower them to lead meaningful and impactful lives.
