Bethesda Missions Hospital is one hospital whose name is synonymous with “Hope’ to the many sick people who gave up hope, owing to their inability to raise funds to get treatment for the myriads of ailment that plagued them.
The Port Harcourt based hospital, with an imposing structure, which boasts of state of the art facilities, was commissioned in December 2017.
Shortly after the commissioning, there was a free medical test and checkup for the public.
According to Angela Nzurumike who spoke to this reporter, the exercise didn’t just end at that. From those who came for the test, 230 people were booked for surgery, both major and minor. And so far, in the space of one year, 97 successful surgeries have been carried out on those people, free of charge.
The hospital is owned by Gateway International Church, which was founded on the 7th of January, 1996, with headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, and headed by Pastor George Izunwa, an Imo state born Preacher, and his dear wife, Pastor Mrs Manuella George Izunwa.
Pastor George is known for his humanitarian and philanthropic gestures which go a long way to prove to the world that the word ‘love’ is an action word.
In the same vein, through the benevolence of Gateway Church, many students have enjoyed scholarship from secondary to university level. And many more are still enjoying it.
In a related development, Pastors Manuella and George Izunwa have also dedicated their resources to helping those born with Down Syndrome.
This show of love by the pastors and members of Gateway International Church aligns with the teachings of Jesus Christ when he said ‘let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Pastor George and Manuella Izunwa are clear examples of those whose selfless giving changed the narrative for so many people, made a lot of impact in our society, and saved a lot of lives.
