The Director-General of the Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF), Rt. Hon Ekperikpe Ekpo, has asserted that the successful conduct of the local government congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state has saved the party from an impending doom.
Ekpo, who made the assertion in a statement during the weekend, said until the congress held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, many party faithful were threatening to pull out due to stifled democratic ethos, saying that the latest congress has given them more reasons to stay back.
He, however, congratulated all the newly elected chairmen as well as the State Organizing Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Honourable Aboh Uduyok for his commitments to the ideals of democracy.
According to the statement, “Honourable Uduyok, empowered by Article 14, sub-section 14 of APC Constitution which domiciles the power to conduct congresses in his office, conducted credible congresses in the State in strict adherence to the guidelines of the party.
“We wish to state that his courage to stand on the side of the people and truth has saved our great party from what was almost an impending doom and a further alienation from the party’s committed drive to take over the Hilltop Mansion come 2023.”
Ekpo noted that APC in the state is once again reinvented with appropriate democratic ethos that would endear more people to the party and increase its membership.
He said the successful congress has positioned the party to be united in the campaigns and work towards taking over the seat of government at the end of the 2023 general elections.
Ekpo, however, encouraged the newly elected chapter chairmen to remain focused and be magnanimous in victory saying such was the only way the party can be grown in leaps and bounds.
